Advice for New Graduates!

For the new graduates- Congratulations!

Your hard work and determination have paid off!

If I can give you any advice, it would be to enjoy your success. Take your time building yourself up, and you don’t have to do everything at once. You don’t have to make a whole bunch of upgrades at one time. Upgrade your home, car, and style in increments when it’s feasible.

But take in what you have accomplished on your own. You made the effort and were determined to get to the finish line. Be proud of yourself. For some, it may take a few months to get a job, but don’t get discouraged. It took me about 3 months, and I landed a job out of state. In a state, I didn’t know anybody, but God made a way. Was I nervous? Yes, but I met some wonderful people along my journey. And leaving my home state allowed me to grow, heal, and become a healthy version of myself. So, don’t be scared if that’s the path you’re presented with.

Another piece of advice I will give you is to enjoy your hard work. Enjoy reaping the benefits of the seeds you sowed. But enjoy your money and your success for yourself. Don’t let anyone tell you how to spend your money. Don’t let anyone tell you who you ought to spend your money on or who you ought to bless, especially if you did everything by yourself. Especially if folks weren’t up studying with you, paying for those college books, or helping foot the tuition bill. If they have great advice on investments and financial management, that’s wonderful; use your discernment.

But outside of that, don’t let anyone tell you how to enjoy and spend your money, because people will pocket-watch and make plans with your money, your success, and your hard work. Help those you feel called to help, but don’t pour from an empty cup. And don’t put yourself in a situation where you have to go without.

So again, I wanted to congratulate you on all your hard work and success. Continue to push forward and ask God to help guide you along your path. I hope you enjoy this little talk with Life Coach Kenya Walker.
